THE IEB AND FIRA B! PARTICIPATE IN EUROSONIC 2023
Comunicació Fira B!Go Cactus will present its songs and a representative of the institution will be part of the panel on Spanish markets.
The most important emerging talent fair in Europe, Eurosonic Noorderslag (ESNS), takes place in Groningen (The Netherlands) from 18 to 21 January. In 2023 the fair returns after two years in the digital realm, and does so with a focus on music from Spain. The IEB, as it has been doing since 2016, is present in Groningen in order to do its job of disseminating the music and the companies of the music sector of the Balearic Islands. On this occasion, a representative of the institution has been invited to participate as a speaker at the round table "Land of many and different markets", together with the Ministry of Culture, TMV, Valencian Music Office, Navarra Impulsa and Pollstar, in which the diversity of the Spanish market and institutional support in the world of music will be discussed. This round table will give visibility to the local industry at the leading fair for popular and urban music in Europe. The work of the institution will be completed at the winter meeting of the EMEE platform, which unites music export agencies from all over Europe, of which the IEB has been a member since 2019, where joint strategies and development plans of all European agencies will be discussed to strengthen the European music and music industry.
At the same time, on Friday 20th the band Go Cactus will present their music at All Round Poolcentrum, a stage dedicated to Rock music. The group, which has performed at Fira B! several times, is one of the most exportable bands from the Balearic Islands. It is a trio that navigates the waters of garage rock, surf and indie with a lot of energy and has played more than 100 concerts around the world, with performances at fairs such as Monkey Week, BIME, Focus Wales (UK), SXSW (USA) or New Colossus (USA), and with tours in the UK. In 2022 they released their first LP, called We have wasted change, but we are fine. During their career they have recorded with very important names such as Paco Loco or Matt and Rocío Verta-Ray, from the N.Y. Hed Studio.
Founded in 1986, ESNS hosts an annual four-day festival and music conference in the halls of Groningen, the Netherlands. The festival and conference attracts more than 4,000 music industry professionals, including 400 international festivals. During the day, the leading conference hosts over 150 panel discussions, interviews, lectures and more addressing pressing issues and the need for social change in the music industry. In the evening, European artists perform at 40 locations in the heart of Groningen from Wednesday to Friday, and on Saturday it presents upcoming Dutch artists at the De Oosterpoort concert hall.
